Adorable Cork Chicks Craft Idea (cute as fingerprint art too)

Spring and chicks always go hand in hand and we are so excited to share this adorable chick art and craft idea with you.

These are actually one of the simplest Easter or spring projects you can do, and although they are made using corks as the stamping tool, you can do them in a variety of ways – for example you can use a dotting tool, a bottle cap, or even your finger.

If you are busy planning Easter activities for your kids then this cork chick craft idea is perfect for both little ones and big kids as well as babies in the womb as whichever way you go about it it is super easy to make and looks absolutely adorable.

This could be a great classroom project where each student makes their own chick on a large canvas, and you’ll have a beautiful display of Easter chicks (no need to keep them all yellow).

They also look great as Easter cards or if you’re hosting a party, they’ll make the cutest decoration for your place setting.

Adorable Cork Chicks Arts and Crafts Ideas

What you need:

  • wine corks (not a wine lover? we buy corks at the store, they are very economical and make great stamps)
  • small canvas
  • yellow paint (non-toxic washable paint for younger children, acrylic craft paint for older children)
  • black marker
  • orange paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • paint brush (optional)

Step by step instructions

Dip the cork into the yellow paint, if too much paint gets on the cork you can wipe it off with a paper towel or dab the cork on a paper towel – thicker paints often work this way so you can add a little water.

Dot the colored head onto the fabric, creating a yellow circle (yay your baby chick is about to be born).

Repeat as many times as needed, just remember to space out enough to allow for wings (if you want, as they look adorable with or without wings).

Let the paint dry a bit before continuing.

While you are waiting for the paint to dry, cut out the beak from the orange paper. If you want the beak to be open, cut out a diamond shape and fold it in half. Younger children can just cut out smaller triangles or just paint the beak.

Use a black marker to draw legs and eyes on the cork-stamped chicks.

Glue the beak.
