Build a Witch Puppet Template

Who wants to build a witch puppet? Making puppets is always fun; It’s a great Halloween activity (especially for preschool) and kids not only have fun making this Halloween craft, but they also have a lot of fun playing with it.

What makes this Halloween puppet stand out is that it has a nose like a poppy and cool looking hair! Your kids can make these puppets in any color they want (there are black and white models as well as pre-colored models) so they can create many unique looking witches.

Halloween is a fun holiday for all ages! There are lots of Halloween crafts and activities you can do at home or in the classroom.

Halloween puppets are something we really love making (and sharing), the kids love making them, and once they’re done, the fun just begins.

If you’re doing this in the classroom, print out our Halloween coloring pages to have something on hand for early finishers.

How to create a model for building a witch puppet

What you need:

  • Our printable template (comes with 5 Halloween monsters)
  • drag
  • glue
  • color supplies

Step-by-step instructions

Print out the form. You can use regular printer paper, however, heavier printer paper would be even better.

You can print pre-colored puppets, but we think a black and white model is more fun. We print the main part of the puppet on green paper and the rest on white paper.

The first thing to do is color the witch’s hat, teeth and eyes (or leave them white). Children can also color paper strips for hair, however, this craft will look better if they draw hair on colored paper.

*if you plan to make this as a Halloween craft in class, we’ve included a version where you can print multiple sections on the same sheet of paper.

Cut a rectangular strip of paper and place it on top of the orange (or other colored) paper. Cut paper strips.

Let’s make a puppet body. Cut along the contour. Additionally, cut out small rectangles for the nose and rounded ears.

Fold along the dashed lines.

Make sure the folds are sharp, run your fingers over them.

Flip it over and you’ll see the flaps are marked with glue letters. Apply glue to them.

Now close the “card”. Gently press down to secure the glue.

It’s time to make a witch puppet. Take orange (or any other color) paper strips and if you want to create witchy curls, roll them up.

Glue them on top of the puppet (on the side with the two closed ends).

The hair looks really strange, doesn’t it?

Glue the witch’s hat on top.

Next, take the small long rectangle, fold it along the dotted lines and apply glue to the designated areas. Stick it in the middle of the puppet.

This witchcraft for children now has a nose.

We’re almost there! Glue yes and don’t forget the ears.

Last but not least is a big smile.

Now all this Build a Witch Puppet craft needs is a hand to make it a reality.

Oh, so fun!
