When it comes to fall crafts, owls are one of the most popular objects to make.

And why wouldn’t they? These birds are truly amazing!

How to make owl crafts with cardboard

What you need:

  • pencil
  • drag
  • glue
  • cardboard
  • compass (optional)
  • construction paper (brown, black, blue, light blue, yellow, orange and red)
  • white lining
  • colored pencils (yellow and orange)
  • red marker

Step-by-step instructions

Start with a sheet of blue construction paper as a base for the cardboard owl craft.

Have your child draw a circle on a piece of cardboard using a compass or a round object.

Cut out the circle.

Decorate the circle with colored pens.

We used orange.

And we added a touch of yellow to create a vibrant owl belly!

Children can color their bellies however they want.

Ask your child to cut out two white circle eyes and glue them to the top of the cardboard circle.

You can also cut two smaller circles and glue them inside the white eyes.

Next is the black pupil inside the blue pupil.

Make a beak shape from orange paper and glue it under the eyes.

Now your owl can hoot, hoot!

Use a marker to draw feather patterns on the owl’s body.

Cut a circle out of red paper, fold it in half and glue it to make a wing.

Repeat with the yellow paper, sticking it inside the red wing.

Cut another red circle and paste it below the yellow circle.

Repeat these steps to create another owl wing.

Tap, tap!

Cut a tree branch shape from brown paper and glue it to the bottom of the blue base.

Cut and attach two black paper strips for legs to the tree branch.

Don’t forget those cute owl toes!

Cut four short strips of black paper and glue them as fingers.

Use white lining to add texture and detail to the branches.

All done! Your adorable cardboard owl craft is complete and ready to display.

What a hoax!
