What you need:

  • orange felt
  • light green felt
  • dark blue felt
  • drag
  • topic
  • a needle
  • felt glue
  • pencil
  • sample (you can get it at the end of the tutorial)

Print out the template. Cut out the shapes and trace them onto the felt – carrots on orange felt, leaves on green felt – smaller on dark green felt and larger on light green felt. You can also cut out small circles for decorations (totally optional) from different colors of scrap felt.

Place the smaller carrot felt piece on top of the larger felt piece – try to line up the shapes as much as possible. If working with younger children, you can add a little felt glue to the edges to hold the shapes in place while your child sews.

Sew the pieces together. You can use a blanket stitch (which you can see in this felt seahorse tutorial) or a basic running stitch (just stitch over and under with thread).

Sew around the edge but leave the top open. When you reach the end, tie a knot.

Add a little felt glue to the bottom of the larger leaf and glue to the back of the carrot bag.

Do the same with the smaller piece, gluing it to the front of the carrot bag.

Sew them together.

All has been done!

If you want to add a little decoration, glue some felt dots onto the carrot.
