Chestnut Snail Craft for Kids

If you are lucky enough to have chestnuts where you live, you can make lots of fun crafts from them, like this chestnut snail craft for kids.

So when you go out for a walk with your kids, remember to bring some chestnuts.

Making snails from chestnuts is quite easy, you just need a little play dough or clay if you want to keep them longer.

This is a great exercise to practice fine motor skills.

You can even paint chestnuts, however we prefer their natural look.

How to make crafts from chestnut snails

What you need:

  • two bulging eyes
  • air dry clay
  • Craft knife
  • a chestnut
  • black pencil
  • hot glue

Step by step instructions

Shape a snail’s body with air dry clay.

Make a chestnut mold as shown in the picture.

Craft two snail antennae and attach them to the body.

Remove the chestnuts and let the clay dry completely.

Apply a small amount of hot glue to the inside of the mold.

Put the chestnuts in.

Glue two fake eyes to your face and then draw a smiling mouth with black eyeliner.

Done!
