This bleeding autumn tissue painting is a fun way to celebrate the beautiful colors of fall with your children.

It’s a great project when the weather doesn’t allow you to go out and enjoy the real thing.

Kids love to work on a project from start to finish, and this project allows them to do just that.

Autumn Bleeding Paper Art

You will need:

  • Small blank canvas
  • hand painted brown
  • craft glue
  • tissue paper, assorted colors
  • water in spray bottleStep 1

Instructions step by step

Lightly draw the tree shape onto the canvas with a pencil. Outline it with glue and let it dry.

You can cut fall-colored tissue paper into small pieces and have them ready, or let your child cut each piece themselves.

Small pieces work best for this fall scene, so try to keep them smaller than 1”. Spray water evenly on the canvas.

Start adding pieces of tissue paper where you want to stick the leaf inside the glue lines, this will keep it from bleeding so much that you can’t make the shape.

You can press them down or gently tap them against the canvas with a paintbrush to keep at least some ink stuck to your little finger.

Step 2

You may need to spray the tissue again to get it nice and wet.

Step 3

Let your canvas sit for 10 minutes to let the vibrant colors absorb.

Peel the tissue off the tarp – a pair of tweezers makes this task easier and is great for building your child’s fine motor strength.

Step 4

Let the canvas dry completely and you’re done, ready to brighten your wall.
