You will need:

  • small blank canvas
  • brown craft paint
  • craft glue
  • Tissue paper, assorted colors
  • water in spray bottleStep 1

Step by step instructions

Use a pencil to lightly draw a tree shape on the fabric. Glue the edges and let dry.

You can cut the fall colored tissue paper into small pieces and have them available or let your kids cut their own pieces.

Small pieces will work best for this fall setting, so try to keep them smaller than 1 inch. Spray the fabric thoroughly with water.

Start adding pieces of tissue paper to where you want the leaf to be inside the glue line, this will keep the paper from bleeding so much that you can’t see the shape of the leaf clearly.

You can press them down or tap them into the fabric with a paintbrush to avoid getting at least some ink on your pinky.

Step 2

You may need to spray the paper towel again to get it wet and soft.

Step 3

Leave the fabric for 10 minutes to allow the bright color to soak into the fabric.

Peel the tissue paper off the fabric – a pair of tweezers will make this easier and is great for developing your child’s fine motor skills.

Step 4

Let the fabric dry completely and you’re ready to brighten up your walls.
