Heart shaped animals are really easy to make and you can make a variety of different creatures (we made a few and loved each one).
If you’re planning on doing some Valentine’s Day crafts with your kids at home or in the classroom with your students, this one is simple enough and sure to look great. We even have a template to make the process easier, as it takes the guesswork out of heart size.
What you need:
Print out the template. If you are using coloring sheets, have your child color the sections of the template first.
Cut out all the pattern pieces.
Draw two hearts joined together on construction paper. This will be the dog’s head – we’ll use a light brown color.
Draw a heart shape in the middle on cardboard – this will be the ear – we choose dark brown for the ear.
Draw the smallest heart shape on cardboard – we choose black because black will make the nose.
The last part to draw is the tongue. If you want to make this craft all hearts, you can skip the tongue, although we think it looks really cool.
Cut out all the drawn shapes.
Fold the two hearts together to make the first card.
Cut the ear in half.
Stick them on your head.
Glue the nose to the head and the tongue to the inside of the card.
Draw a few dots on the dog’s snout and draw eyes or glue on a pair of bulging eyes.
Write your note inside the card.
Done!
Your heart dog is ready to be given to someone special.
