We love simple origami that kids and adults can do. And we love sharing great printable templates that make it even more fun!

With our printable origami dog face templates, you’ll be able to create a variety of beautiful dogs, as there are 2 pre-colored templates (brown and gray dogs) and two templates to color as you like (we made a Dalmatian from one template and a gorgeous pink/green/yellow dog from the other!).

This is an incredibly easy origami project, perfect for kids in preschool to kindergarten to do themselves (it just takes a little folding and the end result will build confidence).

Ready to start folding? We sure are!

You can get our template at the end of this step-by-step folding guide.

Follow the step-by-step folding instructions with pictures

Print out our fun templates (you can get them at the end of this tutorial).

If you decided to print our black and white version, now is the time to color it.

We use markers, but there are many other fun coloring supplies you can use to color (for example, we love using ink pads when coloring our origami bunny).

Once you’re done coloring, or if you printed out a pre-colored version, cut out the square origami paper.

Now for the folding part!

Fold the origami paper in half diagonally, with the dog’s face on one side and the ears on the other.

Fold the pleats over to make them nice and crispy (you can do this yourself with a craft stick, we’ll run it over the pleats to make them crispier).

Now flip it over and you will see the line that forms the ear.

Fold along that line, turning the ear part to the front.

Do the same with both ears.

All that’s left to do is fold a little bit just below the dog’s mouth – there’s no rule about where to fold, you can fold a little higher or lower – this will give your origami dog’s face a unique shape.

You can even make this origami dog stand on its own using the previous fold!

Isn’t that great? We loved it and hope you make more of these.
