This day and night recorder is a great addition to a science project where kids learn about the changing of day and night and the physics behind it.

It doesn’t have to be about studying, it’s a great way to beat boredom that you can easily incorporate into any time of year.

Agamograph Day and Night Model

Kids love playing Agamograph and they will make the most of it because the images change as you move around the screen.

This time, the two alternating images will be night (Moon with stars) and day (Sun). You can use our handy template or even draw the images yourself (you can help yourself with this handy star drawing tutorial).

How to make Agamograph at night and during the day

What you need:

  • Printable template (find this template at the end of our step-by-step guide)
  • heavier paper (regular paper is fine, but heavier paper is a better choice)
  • coloring materials
  • drag
  • scoring tool (we used a wooden skewer)
  • glue

Follow the step-by-step instructions below

Print out our printable Day and Night Agamograph Template from the end of this tutorial. We highly recommend using thicker printer paper, especially if you’re going to be using markers to color your agamograph, as they will likely bleed through and wrinkle regular printer paper. If you’re coloring with colored pencils or crayons, you can use regular printer paper without worry.Svg%3E

Color the agamogarph with your marker. You can use a light blue marker for the Sun background and a dark blue marker for the Moon background, but to make the Moon really pop, choose a black marker.Svg%3E
