How to Make a 3D Paper Ladybug Craft for Valentine’s Day

What you need:

  • red cardboard
  • pink cardboard
  • white marker
  • drag
  • glue
  • round hole punching machine
  • black cardboard
  • Googly eyes
  • black pencil
  • circular ruler
  • split legs

Let’s get started!

Step by step instructions

Draw a heart shaped leaf by hand. Use a white marker and pink cardboard.

Use scissors to cut heart shaped leaves.

Use the hole punch to punch out two red circles.

Push the split pin through the center of the circles and through the pink heart shaped leaf.

Separate the two ends of the pin so that the circles adhere tightly to the leaf.

The body of the ladybug

Cut eight 1cm wide red strips. Choose the height you want the strips to be. These will be used to form the ladybug’s body.

Fold the two ends of each red stripe over.

Apply some glue to the folded parts and make an X shape on the red circles as shown in the picture.

Glue the rest of the paper strips.

Now you can decorate the heart shaped leaves any way you want, but remember to draw two small hearts on the pink leaves.

Use a circular ruler and draw a few circles on black cardboard.

Cut out these circles.

Glue each circle onto the red strips and to the top as shown in this illustration.

Make sure you leave two blank strips of paper on each red body because we will glue the ladybug heads to them.

Ladybug Head

On black cardboard, draw two ladybug heads.

Use scissors to cut off the top.

Attach round eyes to the head.

Now glue the head to the body where you left the empty strip pieces.

They look so cute!

Done!

Now have fun and give them a spin!
