Make this photo snow globe craft, an easy snow globe keepsake or decoration that kids can make themselves.
Christmas ornament photos are the best – they make great classroom crafts and make great homemade gifts for family members.

We make a lot of laminated ornaments in our house, they are really personal and you can make lots of fun things with them – add Santa hats to photos of your kids (or your dogs and cats), make laminated snow globe ornaments to hang on the tree, add antlers and more. However, laminated ornaments are often more “adult” oriented. There is a limit to how involved kids can be, so for this project we thought contact paper would be a better choice – it’s just easier for little hands to decorate.
How to make a snow globe craft with photos
What you need:
- our snow globe decoration sample
- Self adhesive transparent contact paper / foil
- glue
- drag
- image
- white craft paint
- comb
- optional: coloring items
Step by step instructions
Print the template on thicker cardstock/printing paper.
If you want your snow globe to be more colorful, color the base of the globe.
Once you’re done coloring, you or your child can also write names or notes on the globe.
Cut out the inner circle, following the dashed line.
The easiest way to do this is to first punch a hole in the center (marked with a gray dot) and start cutting from there.
Cut the bonding paper into a rectangle, slightly larger than the circular part of the globe.
Place it on a work surface, sticky side up…
…and place the template on top, covering the hole with tracing paper.
Make some snow. Draw a snow hill and add a few snowflakes – your fingers or cotton swabs can make beautiful snowflakes.
You can also draw other things – like a Christmas tree.
Next is the photo.
If you are doing this project with kids in your class, organize a photo shoot a few days in advance. Kids jumping in the air (in winter clothes) is a great pose for this project, but having them pose in any other way is great too.
Cut around the body and press the cut out photo onto the tracing paper.
Glue another sheet of tracing paper to the front of the snow globe, covering the photo and other winter/Christmas details.
Next is cutting. Cut along the dashed lines, around the pattern.
Finally, apply glue to the area where glue is needed, marked with the word glue.
Stick the two ends together, hold still for a moment to let the glue harden.
Done! Your Snow Globe Craft is complete and ready to display.
