This scrap wood turkey craft is actually made from pieces of wood that I saved from a scrap pile and a few basic craft supplies. One thing I love about kids crafts is that they don’t have to be expensive or difficult to make.

They make lovely decorations for your holiday table, fireplace or anywhere you want to bring a little festive cheer to the turkey festivities.
Made by kids but much more durable than paper crafts, these turkeys can last for years.
Turkey Scrap Wood Crafts
You will need:
- scrap wood – 2×4, 4×4, etc.
- large handmade wooden sticks
- Googly eyes
- orange felt
- paint, markers, washi tape, patterned paper
- sandpaper/sanding block
- hot glue or craft glue stick
Step by step instructions
Use sandpaper or a sanding block to quickly smooth out the wood chips to remove any rough spots, otherwise don’t worry too much, the more rustic the better.
Paint large craft sticks in a variety of bright colors and let dry. You can also use markers or cover them with pretty washi tape to create a design.
While the feathers are drying, glue fake eyes to the front of the block and add an orange felt beak.
Paint a few feet with orange or yellow paint, don’t worry about getting it perfect, just a little bit and they will be recognizable as feet.
Once all the paint is dry, flip the scrap wood over and glue the painted “feathers” to the center of the back with just enough glue to hold them in place, fanning them out and layering them so they really stand out.
Let the glue dry completely.
You can do as much as you want.
