New day, new spoon puppets and this time it’s time to make these super easy wooden spoon ladybug puppets.
We used disposable wooden spoons to make this (buy a pack at the grocery store) but you could easily make this with plastic spoons too.
We’ve been rolling out ladybug crafts recently (and will have a few more coming in the next few days) so stay tuned!
Wooden spoon ladybug puppet
What you need
- wooden spoon or plastic spoon
- red and green paint
- permanent black marker
- comb
Paint the bowl and back red, the neck and handle green (yes, I had to google spoon parts :).
Let dry completely.
Once dry, draw a straight line through the middle of the red part of the back for the wings and draw a straight line for the head. Color the head. Draw 7 or more dots.
Done. So easy!
These are fun to play with as puppets but you can also use them as garden decorations. In this case, I recommend coating the spoons with liquid varnish (gloss is great) to protect the wood.
More spoon puppet crafts
Not only did we make a bunch of ladybugs, but we also made some wooden spoon puppets – like these princess spoon puppets, which are great for story time, or these busy bee spoon puppets, which are a little different than this one but I still think they could be friends with insects.
