How to assemble the reindeer puppet model

What you need:

  • Our printable template (comes with 5 Christmas characters)
  • drag
  • glue
  • color supplies

Step-by-step instructions

Print the template and get creative! Kids can add their favorite colors to the base, or you can print the page on colored paper. We chose a warm brown color for ourselves.

First, have the children cut out the base and ears of the reindeer.

Have them color the antlers (or use them as stencils to draw on dark brown paper).

Then, have the child cut out all the parts.

The reindeer will have antlers, eyes and a nose made from five circles.

Create a nose

Have your child draw one of the circles five or more times on red paper.

Then, ask them to cut out the red shapes.

Have children fold each circle in half.

To create the nose, have them apply glue to one half of the circle and attach the other folded circle to it.

So, ask them to apply glue and start attaching the half circles.

All five circles need to be glued together.

Rudolph the reindeer has a nose like that!

Have your child fold the base card along the dotted lines.

Then, have them apply glue to the flaps.

Fold the base card together and press down to let the glue set.

The hand puppet base is ready!

Ears

Have the child glue the ear to the back of it.

Then also apply gauze.

Ask them to keep their eyes on the puppet.

And finally, have your child glue the red nose!

We put it in the center.

The reindeer hand puppet is ready to tell a story!

We love how it turned out!

What do you think?

Stay tuned for more Christmas crafts!
